Martina Hildebrandt

I’m influenced by the people and history that surround us here in my adopted town of Reading. Working with a mixture of mediums, painting, printmaking and collage, I try to create thought-provoking images but with a witty, tongue-in-cheek element. I’ve taken a break from exhibiting to explore other creativity.

Born and growing up in London, I trained as a Theatre Designer at the Wimbledon School of Art, and worked for the London Fringe and touring companies. With creative parents, making things has always been a part of life. Moving to Reading, I dealt with a different kind of paint in retail and now work in the crafting world.

Having joined the Reading Guild of Artist in 2009, I served as an RGA Councillor for 14 years, volunteering as the Webmaster for over ten of them (retiring in 2023), its Archivist and also part of the exhibition team. I now continue to look after the RGA archives, researching for the Museum Highlights and the fast-approaching Centenary in 2030!

I was made an Honorary Life Member in 2025.
