The RGA was saddened to hear that long-standing member Robert Gillmor died peacefully at home on Sunday 8th May 2022 with the family present by his side.

Our thoughts are with Robert's family, including his daughter Emily, fellow member of the RGA.

We take the opportunity to show a couple of new works with a bit of a different subject matter for Robert Gillmor, linocuts of Greens and Fruit and Veg plus two cover designs for the "New Naturalist" book series.

Robert Gillmor, a Reading born artist, illustrator, ornithologist and author, has been a member of the Reading Guild of Artists since 1960. Becoming President of the RGA in 1969, a post he held until he retired from the role in 1986, he is now an Honorary Life Member.

Robert's grandfather Allen Seaby founded the RGA in 1930, and the family connection continues with daughter Emily now also an active member of the RGA.

Robert Gillmor is a founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) and has been its secretary, chairman and president. His bird and animal linocuts have graced the covers of many wildlife books, as well as designing the iconic RSPB logo.
