Originally from New Zealand, I am a musician (flautist) by profession and have worked as a freelance musician and teacher for 23 years. In 2011, I decided it was time to pick up a brush again – a love which I had had to shelve in order to follow a musical career. I enrolled in some painting and life drawing classes and haven't looked back!
My work is inspired by the people and places in my life, but I am fascinated mostly by faces and figures, attempting to catch a little of someone's character and am becoming increasingly interested in conveying a narrative in my paintings. I work from both life and from photographs or a combination of both, in oils, acrylic, charcoal and graphite. More recently, I have also begun a series of still lifes and particularly enjoy the challenge of painting reflective surfaces.
Previously I have exhibited with the Wokingham Arts Society and welcome portrait commissions and other enquiries. More of my work can be seen on my Portfolio page
